Dateline July 1, 2009

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal....." Simple yet powerful words that began a new era for the human condition. As we enjoy the fruits of our forefathers wisdom this 4th of July, let's raise a glass of wine to those brave men who began that 'great experiment', and to our brave men and women overseas still defending it.

AND....
What better way to enjoy July but with a BBQ and a chilled glass of wine? Take a look at our Outdoor Entertaining page for some fun ideas.

PLUS....
The heat is on! As we struggle with the high temperatures and lack of rainfall, remember three things: most of Texas is under a burn ban, drink plenty of water when outdoors, and wine does not like sitting out in the heat -- keep your wine chilled and out of direct sunlight.

Inwood Estates Vineyards

Inwood Estates Vineyards was established in 2005 by Dan and Rose Gatlin. Though the winery is relatively new, Dan has been researching for the optimum grapes to grow in Texas vineyards since 1981. That research, involving five different vineyards and over 30 grape varieties has paid off handsomely.

The Tempranillo - Cabernet blend is made from grapes grown at Newsom Vineyards near the Texas/New Mexico border. The 2003 vintage won a medal at the Riverside International Wine Competition in Claifornia. Dan's Palomino - Chardonnay blend, made from grapes grown near Lake Tawakoni, 80 miles east of Dallas is also a award winner. Dan also produces a 100% Tempranillo wine called Cornelious.
